See yourself at Twilio Join the team as Twilio’s next Senior Principal, Technical Program Manager for Regulatory Compliance in Engineering. About the job As an established subject matter expert in regulatory compliance for Software as a Service companies, you will build bridges between Legal, Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams and translate regulatory requirements into technical requirements and implementation plans. You will define the operating models for R&D to maintain existing requirements and drive creation of roadmaps and frameworks for evaluation and adoption of new compliance requirements. As the primary technology partner for teams outside product & engineering, you will solve critical compliance problems, implement robust management systems, and navigate seamlessly between big-picture planning and hands-on delivery to ensure key initiatives move forward in a dynamic environment. By blending regulatory expertise with execution excellence, you will ensure our operations consistently align with industry standards while enabling product innovation. Responsibilities In this role, you’ll: Influence entire compliance programs and Twilio’s strategic direction by translating strategic priorities into a clear vision and executable programs with measurable outcomes Establish portfolio management frameworks, rhythms, and reporting to improve alignment, communication, and decision-making across portfolio leadership Create formal networks and serve as the primary point of contact to SVPs and executive leadership on mission-critical compliance programs, providing guidance on investment areas and risk mitigation Anticipate upcoming priorities, risks, and decision points, proactively driving alignment and action across the company to maintain certifications and improve compliance Guide and advise business and engineering leaders on return on investment by analyzing technical effort against financial gains and long-term impact to both Educate senior engineering leaders and TPMs on operational best practices and execution rigor regarding regulatory requirements and compliance standards Drive cross-functional delivery of regulatory compliance programs critical to Twilio customers & business Improve audit and evidence processes for R&D to reduce effort of maintaining existing certifications Qualifications Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. Required: Minimum of 10 years of related experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related field. Deep subject matter knowledge of global regulatory frameworks (such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOX) and how they intersect with business and product strategies Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs and drive outcomes in ambiguous environments An operational mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization Proven track record managing large, cross-functional programs across globally distributed teams Ability to promote new ideas and innovative concepts in compliance management to resolve critical issues proactively Desired Experience leading "company-bet" transformations, such as major cloud migrations or foundational compliance platform re-architectures Location This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
