About the job This position is needed to partner closely with cross-functional partners to ensure the accuracy of Twilio’s carrier COGS. You will leverage your experience in automation and data analysis to build and maintain robust processes for contract review, accruals and flux analysis, and provide real-time insights that improve the speed and accuracy of our monthly close. This role is a high-impact position requiring you to combine technical data sets, business acumen and financial reporting. Responsibilities In this role, you’ll focus on: Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the dedicated Accounting partner to the Carrier Operations team, streamlining information flow and accelerating data integrity between systems. Carrier Contract Review: Read, analyze, and document the financial and accounting implications of complex carrier agreements. Ensure strict tracking of security deposits, minimum commitments, and volume-based pricing tiers. Month-End Close: Support the COGS Accounting team in preparing complex accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Ensure accurate and timely data availability and provide insight into key business drivers. Deep-Dive Variance & Anomaly Detection: Own the monthly P&L and Balance Sheet fluctuation analyses for carrier cost accounts. Identify billing anomalies, investigate margins down to the route/carrier level, and explain key business drivers to leadership. Strengthen Internal Controls: Ensure complete compliance with SOX controls, maintain comprehensive accounting policy documentation, and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors regarding carrier COGS. Process Automation: Actively identify process inefficiencies, understand root cause and build systematic solutions using Twilio’s stack of AI tools Qualifications Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. Required: Education: Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or a highly quantitative field. Experience: 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting (Big 4/National) with a fast-growing technology, telecommunications, or CPaaS environment. Technical Accounting: Solid foundational knowledge of US GAAP, operational month-end close structures, and balance sheet reconciliations. Data Mastery: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets capabilities. You must be comfortable manipulating massive, complex, and sometimes non-linear billing datasets. Automation: Hands-on experience using AI and automation tools like Alteryx, UiPath, Gemini and NotebookLM – tell us what you’ve built! Mindset: Extreme ownership, structural organization, and a knack for solving ambiguous, messy operational data problems. Communication: Flawless written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex variance drivers to non-finance operational partners. Desired: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant, or local equivalent. Direct experience handling carrier relations, telecom accounting, or high-volume usage-based vendor structures. Hand-on experience working within major enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, Zuora, BlackLine). Experience leveraging analytical tools (SQL, Python, or advanced data visualization suites) to automate repetitive data reconciliations. Location This role will be remote, and based in India.
